Kia Motors global sales for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles increased 12.3% to 242,790 units in June 2012, compared to corresponding period last year.
In June 2012, sales in general markets increased 9.8% to 47,875 units, sales in Korea decreased by 0.2% to 42,111 units, sales in North America rose by 13.4% to 59,108 units, Europe sales were up by 24.4% to 55,248 units and China sales increased by 13.9% to 38,448 units.
Kia Motors posted the C-segment Cerato sales of 30,789 units for June this year, the B-segment Rio and Sorento mid-size CUV follow with 43,016 and 19,527 units sold, respectively.
The company said that the Sportage compact CUV sales were 31,497 units for the month, while the D-segment Optima sedan reported sales of 22,546 units.
Kia Motors executive vice president and COO Tae-Hyun (Thomas) Oh said that the company is pleased to have posted strong double-digit cumulative growth in the world's major auto markets of North America, Europe and China during the first half of 2012.
"Given that our new product launch schedule for overseas markets is very much weighted toward the second half of the year - including our new flagship sedan and refreshed Sorento CUV - we look forward to the challenge of maintaining our global sales growth momentum throughout the remainder of 2012," Oh said.
