Japan-based automobile manufacturer Honda is planning to recall over 200,000 vehicles worldwide, due to problems in the vehicles' shift-interlock mechanism.

The recall will affect 59,000 units of 2012 and 2013 model year Honda Odyssey minivans, 128,000 units of the 2012 and 2013 Honda CR-V SUVs, and 17,500 units of 2013 Acura RDX vehicles.

According to the company, when temperatures drop below freezing, a component could enable the driver to shift the vehicle's transmission out of the park position without pressing the brake pedal.

No cases of damages or injuries related to the problem have been reported, claims the company.

The company plans to notify the affected customers through mail, starting from May 2013.

Earlier, Honda had issued recall for about 1.14 million vehicles including 107,000 units in Canada.

The previous recall was a part of major recall, jointly conducted by Honda, Toyota and Nissan, for about three million vehicles, due to defective air bags produced by Japanese manufacturer Takata.
