NORFOLK, Va. — Solid wood reproduction dining and accent furniture specialist Furniture Classics has named Greg Johnston vice president of sales.
The vice president of sales position was previously held by Alex Boyer, who is currently a senior strategic business development executive at MicroD.
Johnston was most recently vice president of sales at accent furniture specialist Stein World and before that was general manager for Classic Design. He also has held sales management positions with Hamilton & Spill, Jackson Furniture, Morgan Stewart/Dunmore, Progressive Furniture and Ashley.
At Furniture Classics, he reports to President Michael Ricks and will be based in Hickory, N.C. Johnston will manage all the company's national and international sales efforts and will direct the company's team of independent sales representatives. The company is now expanding that team from 23 to 40 members to strengthen its presence on the West Coast and in other important markets.
"Greg is an established and effective sales leader with excellent communication skills and a proven record of sales success," Ricks said in a statement. "He has a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with retailers large and small across all distribution channels, providing them with products and ideas that help them reach new customers and grow their business."
Johnston said he also looks forward to the opportunity.
"I am very excited to be joining Furniture Classics as it prepares for a new wave of growth," he said. "This is a respected, well-managed company, with first-rate quality and service and high-value products that are designed and priced to retail."
