Crown Food Europe, a unit of Crown Holdings, has installed a metal packaging production line at its Novotitarovskaia plant in Krasnodar Krai, southern Russia.
For the project, the company has teamed up with Bonduelle, a French vegetable processing firm; and this development expands its presence in Russia.
It will allow Crown to streamline Bonduelle's production process and supply chain in the Novotitarovskaia plant, while helping it manage can inventory, simplify logistics as well as minimize operational downtime.
Operational since August 2013, the production line manufactures cans to pack sweet corn and peas.
Crown Food Europe senior vice president Didier Sourisseau said, "Crown and Bonduelle have a long history of partnership and we are committed to supporting them to develop their business in growth territories."
Bonduelle Russia general manager Hervé Caroff said, "As Russian consumption continues to grow, it is critical to ensure that our operations run as efficiently and as effectively as possible.
"With Crown locally manufacturing our food cans, it provides our company with the best opportunity to improve its flexibility, service and product delivery."
Crown opened its first facility in Timashevsk, southern Russia, in 2003.
