In afternoon, July 30th, publication meeting of Baosteel Group 2012 corporate social responsibility report, and global initial launch ceremony of 3rd generation high-strength automotive steel were held in Baosteel Tower. Clear and tender child voice singing the song Wings of Dream preluded the whole publication ceremony, and a dream journey to feel the sincerity, friendliness and creativity of Baosteel started hereof. The ceremony was divided into four chapters: publication of social responsibility report, on community, on employee and value creation, describing respectively new achievements and breakthrough in the overall situation of Baosteel undertaking social responsibility, contributing to community and value chain, and employee development.
A wonderful short clip, which took people to reflect on the road Baosteel had went through in undertaking corporate social responsibility last year preluded the grand publication of Baosteel 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. As 5th. annual social responsibility report published by Baosteel, it displayed the innate sincerity in sticking to humanistic and social norms, the spirit of friendliness in voluntarily giving back to society and nature, the creativity in pushing forward science and technological advancement and business model innovation through wise management and sustained new thinking. The report was divided into six sections of three basic options of earnestness in management, value creation, environment management; and three priority options of employee, social and supply chain performances. It mainly described works of Baosteel in corporate governance, value creation, environment, employee, community, supply chain, etc.; its contents covered steel, resource development, logistics, extended processing of steel materials, engineering and technology service, coal chemistry, financial investment and production service.
Employees were most sparkling protagonists in the report, which vividly manifested friendliness of Baosteel. Baosteel employees or their offsprings were main characters in theme pictures of each chapter and section in the report; among these people there were employees who presided over projects of science and technological innovation and won advancement awards, who worked and communicated directly with users as bridge between Baosteel and users, ... It represented attitudes of Baosteel to be proud of all its employees, cheer for their achievements, and sincerely hope them to grow with enterprise. Many indexes were disclosed in the report for the first time, examplifing Baosteel's sense of social responsibility as a multi-faceted entity. On environment management, Baosteel published an index system streamlined last year mainly to demonstrate environment and social effectiveness; on enterprise strategy management, Baosteel had for the first time included information on economic performance analysis, strategic positioning of the steel industry, layout of technology innovation system, starting point, realization routes, layer and type-specific talent fostering systematic platform of environment management.
With diverse methods of information dispersion, publication channel of the report had been further expanded. Besides report in paper edition and on main page of the corporate website, people could also download "Baosteel Reading Room" in AppStore to read the report and other Baosteel related information.
Closely following publication of social responsibility report were twelve cases of eminent practice of Baosteel subsidiary companies in undertaking social responsibility. In Xinjiang, Tibet, Shanghai, Zhanjiang, etc., the video took people to regions Baosteel people had worked, made people feel the sincerity and friendliness of Baosteel to contribute to community and society. The video thus preluded the community chapter. Baosteel Hearty Trust, as innovative measures of Baosteel in expanding channels of social welfare and the great universal love to give back to the society, then made its sparkling presence. At the beginning of the employee chapter, numerous smiling faces appeared on the screen, making people feel the proud and happiness as Baosteel people. As representative of Baosteel employees, young employee from Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Silicon Steel Department Song Jian, followed by his family members, shared with all presented his experience of harvesting happiness in the enterprise. The value creation chapter is the most splendid part with the global launch of sample components of 3rd generation ultra-high strength steel QP980. Chief researcher from Baosteel Central Research Institute Wang Li and Director of Technology Department of FAW Car Co., Ltd. Xie Wencai touched the button to launch the product. The ceremony invited people from all works of the society to engage in interaction through live broadcast with Baosteel ofiicial Weibo named "friendly Baosteel" and "big Weibo screen" at the meeting. Numerous netizens participated with great enthusiam, and its contents were displayed in synchronism scrolls on the TV screen at the publication ceremony.
Zhang Tao expressed warm congratulations to the publicaiton of Baosteel 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. He mentioned six characteristics of work on corporate social responsibility in Baosteel: fully displaying social activeness of the enterprise as an existing entity, accountability for people's livelihood and creation of social value; management based on laws and norms, keeping to moral promises; putting great emphasis on the impact of industrial development on environment; sticking to people first principle, developing advanced culture; actively participating in works of social welfare; actively undertaking its responsibility in cross-country management. He hoped Baosteel could forge ahead despite of difficulties in works of social responsibility by centering around layout optimization, product structure adjustment, cost control, technology innovation and capacity building to give full play of its enterprise social values, obligations and contribution, to bravely compete in the world's industrial battling field and speed up the realization of the dream of building a strong nation with steel.
He Wenbo pointed out the importance of steel in the life of mankind in his speech, and expressed firm conviction of Baosteel people on steel dream. Meanwhile, as Chairman of Baosteel Co., Ltd., he emphasized the target and positioning of Baosteel Co., Ltd. as an enterprise aiming to become the world's most competitive iron and steel company and a listed company with greatest value for investment; he described great confidence of Baosteel Co., Ltd. to stick to its innate sincerity as firm as iron and steel, further enhanced its competitiveness and actively gave back to shareholders. He pointed out, great work of Baosteel was work that would benefit mankind, thus every Baosteel people had the reason to feel proud of all we had put in. Despite of current difficulties the industry faced, Baosteel people never stepped back, but marched to a more glorious future with the time. Baosteel was actively transforming and upgrading the traditional industries and pushing forward development of new industries.
