Lancashire-based LED manufacturer ACDC has been named an Export Champion by UK Trade and Investment(UKTI)during Export Week.
ACDC is one of five companies in Lancashire to have been chosen for its level of performance in the export sector.
The company,which currently boasts an export turnover of 7.5 million and hopes to increase this figure to 10 million in the next financial year,counts Atlantis Palm Hotel in Dubai,Bitexco Financial Tower in Ho Chi Min City,Vietnam,Finninge Roundabout in Sweden and the GPO Building in Sydney among its international projects.The company has also just completed a 1.5 million contract to supply lighting to a shopping centre in Kuwait.
Export week is part of a campaign led by Trade and Investment minister Lord Green to increase the number of British exporters by a quarter,adding a potential 36 billion to the economy.
Clive Drinkwater,regional director for UK Trade and Investment in the North West visited the company in Barrowford on 13th November to tour the premises and meet some of its 100 staff.He said,I am delighted to be able to announce that ACDC will be one of our Export Champions;a lighting firm which will become a beacon to inspire non-exporters to get started and new exporters to do more.
The visit capped a successful year for ACDC,the company having recently won a Queen Award for Enterprise in International Trade,which was collected from Buckingham Palace on 12th November.The award was presented by Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire,Lord Shuttleworth.
