US-based Gorham Paper and Tissue has announced the full commercialization of a portfolio of barrier packaging papers.
The papers have functionality requirements including oil and grease resistance, wet strength, printability and surface smoothness for foil or film laminations and wax or poly coatings.
According to the company, they are used in food service and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) applications.
Gorham Paper and Tissue sales and marketing vice president Brian McAlary said the company's machines are built for end uses such as barrier packaging papers.
"For the past six months our product development team has been collaborating with leading packaging converters and end-users to refine product formulations, increase run frequencies and optimize our machine efficiency," McAlary said.
The new line of packaging papers have been engineered to provide the technical functionality and aesthetic properties needed for the retail environment, and are available in a basis weight range from 18lb to 140lb.
Available with fiber options including bleached, unbleached or colored, the targeted food service and QSR applications of the papers include wraps, pouches, bags, liners, boxes and packets.
