US-based establishment Golden State Foods is planning to establish a new meat processing facility in Opelika, in the US state of Alabama.
To be located in the Northeast Opelika Industrial Park, the proposed facility will see an investment of around $45m.
The new facility is expected to create 173 new jobs in Opelika.
Golden State Foods Meat Group president and corporate vice president Wayne Morgan said: "After careful consideration, we selected Opelika as the site for our new facility based on the strategic location along I-85, the available workforce and the atmosphere of industry and government cooperation."
Headquartered in California, Golden State Foods is involved in the processing and distribution of liquid products, meat products, produce, dairy, and other services, as well as providing a variety of networked solutions for the total supply chain spectrum.
The company currently services more than 125,000 restaurants from its 45 locations on five continents.
