DEKRA Automotive Has Obtained a 60% Stake in VTNZ From MTA

German automotive testing organization DEKRA Automotive has acquired a 60% stake in Vehicle Testing New Zealand (VTNZ) from Motor Trade Association (MTA).

This acquisition enables DEKRA to expand its core automotive business unit outside Europe.

By acquiring VTNZ, DEKRA is systematically continuing its strategic internationalisation and the expansion of its core Automotive business unit outside Europe.

DEKRA eV and DEKRA SE CEO Stefan Kolbl said that in acquiring VTNZ, they are creating a platform to offer and expand their expert services in the automotive and industrial sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.

DEKRA SE automotive business unit head and management board member Clemens Klinke said that VTNZ will help to boost their global activities outside Europe.

"In MTA, we also have a strong partner to continue the successful development of business," Klinke added.

VTNZ is an automotive testing service provider in New Zealand operating 84 inspection stations nationwide and generates annual sales of more than EUR50m.

DEKRA Automotive has achieved total annual sales of around EUR1.2bn in 2012.
