Vion Has Entered Into an Agreement to Focus on Its Food Operations

Dutch food firm Vion has entered into an agreement to sell its Oerlemans Foods to Baltussen Holding for an undisclosed amount, as part of its efforts to focus on its food operations in the Netherlands and Germany and on its global ingredients business.

Oerlemans Foods is a manufacturer of fresh frozen vegetables, fruit and potato products.

Baltussen Holding will be supported by its strategic partner Rijko. Baltussen specializes in the production and processing of fresh vegetables, while Rijko is involved in the sourcing of these raw materials.

The sale is in line with the Vion's revised strategy announced on 15 June 2012, which aims to implement investments in an an accelerated, more vigorous manner, and also divest non-core businesses.

The transaction, which is subject to the approval of the competition authorities, will not affect employees at Oerlemans Foods.

Oerlemans Foods Nederland grows, produces, and supplies frozen vegetables, fruits, herbs, potato products, and organic products. It has production sites in Waalwijk and Broekhuizenvorst, the Netherlands; and Strzelno and Siemiatycze, Poland.
