The IALD has come one step closer to its planned creation of certification to recognise the profession of lighting designers.
The IALD surveyed 637 building and design industry practitioners in order to assess the importance of seven domains of architectural practice. These domains included areas such as goals and outcomes, collaboration, ingenuity and human experience.
The survey, conducted by the Credentialing Task Force, indicated how these domains of practice currently reflect the industry and how important they are to the industry.
The results indicated that the area that was both best reflected by practice and most important to the profession was collaboration.
David Becker,IALD member and Credentialing Task Force Chair, explained,"The level of interest and participation from members of the design/build community worldwide surpassed our greatest expectations[…]We received the critical mass of responses necessary to validate the domains of practice we have established after two years of research."
Lighting will report further on the findings of the survey in our November edition.
