D.a. Glass Will Open a New Location on The Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan

Poland-based D.A. Glass will open a new location on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan by the end of December, according to a Nov. 14 Houghton Bureau report. D.A. Glass processes plate glass for greenhouses and solar panels that is chemically treated to reduce the amount of solar energy lost to reflection.

"We want to see this company continue to grow and be a part of the Copper Country," said Steve Williams, president and CEO, in the report. "We want to be a part of the community. We want to be able to contribute to the community. But by the same token, we also want to be a profitable, long-term investor in the Keweenaw."The company plans to hire at least 30 employees by January, and to add more than 100 employees in the next three years, accounting for an estimated payroll investment of about $7 million per year, according to the report. D.A. Glass received a loan from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. on the condition that it create 102 jobs and invest $10.5 million within three years, according to a Nov. 14 Mining Gazette report.

The company intends to keep expanding and has already made plans to construct another building in the coming year, according to the Gazette report.
