US based Advantis has purchased and installed new N2Pack packaging equipment for preserving cannabis.
The N2 Packaging Systems-built equipment will be used by Advantis to hermetically seal cannabis within specially designed containers in a bid to preserve quality and freshness of the products.
Hermetic sealing process involves replacement of air and moisture with nitrogen to dramatically extend the product’s shelf life.
Advantis CEO Christopher Swartz said that the company has been testing the equipment and supplying samples to cooperatives.
Swartz added: "We are working with an influential group of dispensaries who are excited to have this technology available to them. They provided valuable feedback.
"The designer labeling brings about a solid marketing opportunity, the cans preserve quality, freshness and increase the value of the medicine (product), which allows them to price items at a premium."
Advantis expects to commence packaging production for prospective orders by the beginning of October 2016.
The company is acquiring a new manufacturing space for packaging, product development, and administration.
Swartz noted: "We are moving our office from the current office tower and into a facility that allows us the flexibility to create, develop, and manufacture products in the same place as our administrative offices.”
In June 2016, Advantis signed an agreement to sub-license N2 Pack‘s patented packaging technology to marijuana dispensaries in California, Oregon, and Washington.
