Opel will be bringing 27 new models and 17 new engines in the market between 2014 and 2018 wherein the diesel engines for each model range will be completely modernized.
In the first half of 2015, the company will launch the new 2.0 CDTI, a new generation of whisper diesels which will be made available for cars ranging from Corsa to Insignia in three displacement classes.
These engines that are available in three sizes have been developed to improve efficiency and reduce all kinds of emissions, improve responsiveness and low-end torque and to bring down the noise level and vibrations to enhance comfort.
Opel's new 1.3 CDTI has been launched with the new Corsa and has an output of 55 kW/75 hp and 70 kW/95 hp, both giving 190 Nm maximum torque. The engine is much quieter than its predecessor.
Another new diesel pack, the four-cylinder engine offers torque of 400 Nm and maximum power of 125 kW/170 hp is reached at just 3,750 rpm.
Opel will soon introduce the engine in the Zafira Tourer (125 kW/170 hp) and, later, in further Opel models such as the convertible Cascada.
The engine claimed to have emission levels comparable to those of a gasoline unit. The Insignia has been equipped with Opel's BlueInjection selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, which removes nitrogen oxide from the engine's exhaust gases.
