Complete Classroom Design Experience Is Offered by Wool4skool

Wool4Skool offers a complete classroom Design experience,introducing a new generation of Australians to the versatility of the fibre that helped build our nation.

Planned by leading teachers and fabric experts,Wool4Skool in 2013 has been expanded to coincide with the education curriculum for year 7 through to 10.

This week,Design and Technology,Art and Home Economics teachers from around Australia have been invited to register for the 2013 program.$10,000 in cash prizes is being offered for both teachers and students with a Girlfriend magazine photo shoot and the chance to meet Design industry experts as added incentives to be involved.

The 2013 brief is to design and describe a garment for a member of the Royal family to wear to an event such as the races,a charity event or party.The students do not have to make the garment although the winning entries will be created by leading designer Jonathan Ward.

The classroom resources available for Wool4Skool are significant with every registered teacher receiving two square-metre samples of Merino fabric:one woven and one knitted.Add to this the extensive lesson plans,work sheets,illustration tips and state syllabus links and teachers have a complete design project to place within their classes.Click here to register for Wool4Skool 2013.

This year's Wool4Skool winner,Brooke Pearce had the opportunity to explain her winning garment to royalty earlier this month when she met HRH The Prince of Wales.As the global patron for the Campaign for Wool,HRH The Prince of Wales was very interested in Brooke's inspiration and her knowledge of wool.

"It has been a great experience being part of the Wool4Skool program.I have had lots of opportunities to meet people in the wool and fashion industry and I have learnt about the benefits of using wool in garments.I recommend Wool4Skool for any teenagers looking for a future career in fashion design,"she said.
