Vale SA announced Monday that it has lifted the force majeure declared on December 27 on a number of its iron-ore sales contracts.
Heavy rains and generally unfavorable weather conditions impacted shipments in the Southeastern part of the country, especially in the state of Espírito Santo.
The impact on iron-ore shipments was limited to 2.5 million metric tons from the original estimate of 3-4 million metric tons in December, of which up to 1.3 million metric tons could be potentially recovered in the first quarter of 2014.
