In the January-October period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 28.47 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 18.2 percent year on year, according to the figures released by China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI).
In the given period, China's new ship orders amounted to 53.73 million dwt, up 15.7 percent year on year.
As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 153.55 million dwt, up 30.3 percent year on year and rising by 17.2 percent compared to the end of 2013.
In the January-October period, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 24.48 million dwt, down 16.5 percent year on year and accounting for 86.0 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period.
Meanwhile, China's new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 50.29 million dwt, up 16.9 percent year on year and constituting 93.6 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 146.33 million dwt, up 41.9 percent year on year and constituting 95.3 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
