Mining Australia reported that Pilbara iron ore junior Iron Ore Holdings has sealed a native title deal with the Yaburara Mardudhunera peoples that will ensure the future expansion of its new projects.

Exact details on the value of the agreement haven't been made public but in a statement IOH said the deal covered payments before and after mining and shipping commenced.

Mr Alwyn Vorster MD of IOH said that the company had been successful in negotiating with traditional owners and the agreement was the fifth native title deal made by IOH.

Mr Vorster said that "This Land Access Deed reinforces the strong relationship that IOH has established with the YM people."

He said that "Furthermore, it provides additional clarity to progress barge facility options for the Cape Preston East area."

Currently, IOH is working on plans to develop a barge loading facility in the Cape Preston east region, which could support around 8 million tonne per annum of production from the company's Bungaroo South mine.
