Japan's Exports of Iron and Steel Products in May Falls by 8.4% Year on Year

Japan’s exports of iron and steel products totaled 3.7 million tons in May, falling by 8.4% year on year but rising by 0.9% from a month ago, according to data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance.

In May, the country’s exports of steel products made to Korea totaled 634,278 tons, falling by 5.3%; those to China were at 529,217 tons, decreasing by 7.3% and those made to Taiwan were at 289,735 tons, down by 7.9%, all compared to a month ago

Meanwhile, the country’s imports of steel products totaled 616,552 tons in May, falling by 2% from the previous month and decreasing by 10.3% year on year.

Among them, 275,160 tons were from Korea, decreasing by 7.2%; 110,876 tons were from China, rising by 5.8%; 98,573 tons were from Taiwan, increasing by 3.4%, all compared to the figures in April.
