According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan’s output of galvanized steel sheets totaled 926,177 tons in February, decreasing by 6.8% from a month ago and falling by 4.1% year on year. In February, the country’s shipments of galvanized steel sheets totaled 952,476 tons, remaining flat from a month ago but falling by 5.3% year on year. Among them, 71% were made to domestic market while the remaining 29% were made to export markets.
Besides, the stocks of galvanized steel sheet totaled 1 million tons in February, decreasing by 2.5% from a month ago and falling by 5.5% year on year, including 62% held by steel producers and 38% held by steel traders. In addition, the domestic prices for galvanized steel sheets averaged at 92,000/ton, remaining stable from a month ago but falling by 9,000/ton year on year.
