Production in the Colombian manufacturing industry (excluding coffee processing) decreased by 4.1 percent in November 2012 compared to the same month of 2011, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).
In the first 11 months of the year, Colombia's manufacturing production increased slightly by 0.2 percent on year-on-year basis, while Colombia's basic iron and steel production increased by 12.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the January-November period of last year, Colombia's iron and steel exports value rose by 6.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, coming to $1.06 billion, while the country's iron and steel import value decreased two percent year on year to $2.3 billion.
Meanwhile, Colombia exported 15,628 mt of ferronickel in November 2012, up 43 percent compared to November 2011, with a value of $90.2 million, rising 26.2 percent year on year. In the first 11 months of the year, Colombian ferronickel exports amounted to 133,365 mt, up 31.9 percent year on year, worth $810.2 million, rising by 6.1 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
