Demand and a greater urgency to buy and stock yards before the year end was evident this week from Pakistan as cash buyers diverted tonnage destined for India and one or two new sales were reported to hungry recyclers.
The gas free for man entry aframax tanker BLACKFIN (14,830 LDT) sister to AMBERJACK, SMOOTH HOUND and BLUEFIN, from same Greek owners (who have already sold 8 tankers into Pakistan for recycling this year) failed once and was recommitted at levels of USD 440 per LT LDT. The Danish country of build was largely responsible for the strong price on show.
By contrast a relatively un favored and comparatively poorer unit, LADY SERA (6,406 LDT) from Turkish owners was sold at a weaker USD 377.5 per LT LDT.
