Indian fashion industry powerhouses mesmerised the audience at the recently concluded Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) with their dazzling lines of avant-garde Autumn/Winter 2014 creations. The ethnic designerwear label Satya Paul attempted to explore the various paradigms of illusion and forms through its latest range titled Icarus. Made from slinky silks to jersey, crepe and wool materials, the collection was based on a palette of toffee brown, lilac, crimson, nude, mint, soft pink and deep burgundy.
Decorated with prints of flowing water and blooming plants, the line featured sarees, woollen petticoats, vintage-inspired polo neck blouses, shift dresses, shirts, winter capes, jumpers and tunics. New Delhi-based designer duo David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore, behind the namesake label Abraham & Thakore, were influenced by the concept of urban shikar (hunt), wherein they re-imagined the city streets as terrains and smart phone as the defence, for their latest catwalk presentation. Based on a gorgeous palette of gold and khaki tones, the wild silk made line included Tussar silk trench coats, Ahimsa silk military style blouson jackets, long kurtas, sarees and baggy salwars. Inspired by ornaments found all over the world, the noted Mumbai-based fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani showcased an enchanting catwalk collection at the prestigious Indian event. Incorporated with gold thread detailed collars and cuffs, the featured pieces included tunics, ornate kaftans, mukaish-work tops, village-belle skirts and striking kurtas.
