Brazil's motor vehicle output in May this year increased by 1.9 percent from the previous month and fell by 18 percent year on year to 282,465 units (excluding agricultural vehicles), according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 13.3 percent year on year to 1,351,225 units.
New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 293,362 units in May this year, remaining almost unchanged compared to April, but down 7.2 percent year on year. 18 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles. In the first five months of the current year, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 5.5 percent year on year to 1,399,356 units.
Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in May this year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 35,162 units, decreasing by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 27.7 percent year on year. In the January-May period this year, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 145,722 units, down 31.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in May the revenue generated by Brazilian motor vehicle exports (including agricultural vehicles) decreased by 2.6 percent month on month to $1.11 billion, declining by 23.9 percent year on year. In the first five months of the current year, in Brazil the revenue generated by motor vehicle exports (including agricultural vehicles) decreased by 19.7 percent year on year to $5.14 billion.
