America Announces That The Fashion for Sandy Relief Initiative Has Raised$1.7 Mn

Fashion for Sandy Relief Raises $1.7mn

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue are pleased to announce that the Fashion for Sandy Relief initiative has raised$1.7 million.One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and other relief organizations in the tri-state area.

Fashion for Sandy Relief was a multifaceted campaign that included an online auction on charitybuzz.com and a designer sale in partnership with the Tory Burch Foundation.Through an outpouring of support from the fashion community,the CFDA and Vogue secured more than 150 luxury experiences for the auction.

Donations ranged from lunch with Diane von Furstenberg,and a stay at Donna Karan's home in Turks and Caicos,to a swimming lesson with Olympian Ryan Lochte,lunch and custom shoes from Manolo Blahnik,and tea with Grace Coddington.

On November 15,the Tory Burch Foundation,the CFDA,and Vogue held a FASHION FOR SANDY RELIEF designer sale at the Metropolitan Pavilion.Merchandise from the current fall and winter collections were sold at 50 percent off retail price.Participating brands included Tory Burch,Carolina Herrera,Theory,J.Crew,Diane von Furstenberg,Valentino,Marc Jacobs,Rag&Bone,and many others.

"I want to thank the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue for organizing the Fashion for Sandy Relief initiative and donating the proceeds to the Mayor's Fund,"said Mayor Michael R.Bloomberg."It's through the dedication and contributions of people from all parts of our city,including the fashion industry,that we will rebuild and be stronger than ever."
