Japanese automobile production in February this year totaled 808,194 units, decreasing by 144,062 units or 15.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, indicating a year-on-year fall for the sixth consecutive month, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
Domestic sales in February this year in Japan stood at 477,380 vehicles, down 8.1 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in February amounted to 392,220 units, down by 62,229 units or 13.7 percent compared to February 2012 and decreasing on year-on-year basis for the seventh consecutive month. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $12.7 billion, including $9.3 billion for vehicles and $3.4 billion for parts. This is a decrease of $2 billion or 13.4 percent as compared with $14.7 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
