Coal Exports Totaled 7.9 Million Mt in Feb This Year,Falling by 21.7% Compared to January

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 7.9 million mt in February this year, falling by 21.7 percent compared to January, according to the company's announcement. 15 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In the first two months of the year, coking coal exports constituted 17 percent of total coal exports of 18.1 million mt from PWCS, with the overall volume up 6.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first two months of the year, with shipments constituting 53.9 percent of the total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 15.95 percent of the total.
