Taiwan-based solar conductive paste maker Giga Solar has reported December revenues of NT$181 million (US$6.23 million), showing a decrease of 34.42% on month and a decrease of 0.18% on year. The accumulated total revenues for 2012 were NT$3.474 billion, up by 13.7% compared to 2011.
Giga Solar noted that the falling December revenues were due to the Christmas holidays as international customers temporarily halted production. In addition, customers in China, Europe and Japan showed weaker demand also due to the holidays. Furthermore, Taiwan-based solar cell makers had a relatively lower capacity utilization due to inventory clear-out at the end of the year.
Giga Solar pointed out that the firm plans to develop rooftop solar PV systems in 2013 and hopes to enter more project bids from Taiwan's Bureau of Energy.
Giga Solar's aluminum paste shipments account for close to 50% of total revenues. Currently, the firm has been focusing on developing front silver pastes. Giga Solar has begun shipping front silver paste for which the firm obtained certification from customers in January 2013. The firm believes revenues will continue to increase with rising shipments of front silver pastes.
