Made exclusively from carbon-fiber and aluminum, Audi will be putting on display a lightweight chair which has been developed on same lines as the Audi R18 racecar. This lightweight Audi chair, weighing just 5 pounds is on display at Design Miami from December 5th to 10th 2012.
Earlier seen at Milan Furniture Fair early this year as a prototype, designers Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram have taken inputs from over 1500 people to fine tune this ultra light chair to optimum levels of comfort. These designers also have objects de art displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. They have designed this ultra lightweight chair along with knowhow from Audi lightweight engineers resulting in a sturdy and comfortable chair made of carbon fiber carbon and high strength aluminum.
At Design Miami, designers will be hosting a special presentation to give visitors an insight into their work which has gone into designing this lightweight chair. Sketches, material samples, models, prototypes from various stages of the design process will be on display along with the R18 ultra racing car which took part at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012. Price of the chair and even whether it is for sale or not have not been revealed.
