Colombia Exported 10,670mt of Ferronickel in January This Year, Falling 1.2% Year on Year

Colombia exported 10,670 mt of ferronickel in January this year, falling 1.2 percent year on year and down 19.7 percent compared to December 2012, with a value of $60 million, falling 11 percent year on year and down 15.4 percent month on month, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In 2012, Colombian ferronickel exports had amounted to 146,658 mt, up 31.4 percent year on year, worth $881 million, rising by 6.6 percent compared to 2011.

In January this year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 25,792 mt, rising 30.5 percent, worth $81 million, up 1.3 percent, both compared to the same month of 2012. Last year, Colombia's iron and steel export value had risen by 10.7 percent compared to the previous year, coming to $1.15 billion, totaling 324,966 mt, up 8.3 percent year on year, while the country's iron and steel import value had decreased 3.9 percent year on year to $2.65 billion. In January of the current year, Colombia imported 262,582 mt of iron and steel products, rising by 48.8 percent year on year.
