The acquisition secures a Southern Ireland footprint together with an established Eire customer base for the firm, which has six international offices -  including the US, Australia and China as well as its European operations.

Equator's ambitious three to five year growth plan aims to take the company beyond £20m turnover, which will represent an ambitious 120% growth from its current  £9.1m revenue.

The Link Design Studios team members, including founding Directors Tom Fitzpatrick and Gary Orr, have been retained and Equator will be creating three additional jobs in Ireland as it further expands.

Mark Cook, Equator's board director, said Link Design Studios was sought after because of its reputation as a talented and creative design team.

"Our expansion plans include further inroads in the North American marketplace, with a second Chicago office scheduled for 2014 and we will also be broadening our portfolio by moving into new market sectors, both by organic growth and the acquisition of talented design outfits with outstanding expertise in these niche areas, together with an excellent reputation for delivery, a passion for customer service and the provision of new disciplines to offer to our customers," he added.

Link Design Studios co- founder, Tom Fitzpatrick, said: ''The fact that Link Design Studios is now part of a major international design group has been very well received by our clients here in Dublin and surrounding areas."

The Dublin deal follows Equator's merger in April 2012 with Manchester based GJ Design, which now goes under the global Equator brand name.

Equator has recorded significant growth in the last two years, and has increased its workforce to more than 100 members globally.

Prominent accounts managed by the firm include Next, Nisa and Roundy's in the USA.
