British Passenger Car Sales Increased 14.8% in April Year-On-Year

British Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has announced that the UK passenger car registrations in April of this year increased by 14.8% to 163,357 units compared with the same period last year, being the highest level since the same period in April 2008.

UK best-selling models in April was the Ford Fiesta, sold 8,083 units, followed by the Opel Corsa (6,084 units) and Ford Focus (5,944 units); cumulative sales in the past four months, the UK's best-selling models was Carnival, whose sales reached 42,392 units, and the Fox and Corsa ranked the second and third, and the sales were 31,025 units and 30,645 units.

Ford's sales in April in the UK market grew by 7.6% to 22,178 units, the throne sit tight in the sales of the first; Vauxhall ranked second with 17,645 units, representing an increase of 7% over the same period last year; followed by Volkswagen , sales of 16,096 vehicles, an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year.

The first four months of this year, passenger car registrations totaled 768,555 vehicles, an increase of 8.9%, while the sales were 705,878 vehicles the same period last year.
