Korean Re-Rollers Are Trying to Bid Lower Prices of Japanese

It’s reported that the Korean re-rollers are trying to bid lower prices of Japanese–origin hot rolled coil (HRC) for May delivery since the weaker market demand. The Japanese HRC April shipments price was at US$$600~US$610/ ton FOB to Korean buyers. However, the Korean buyers are hoping to buy May shipments of Japanese HRC at US$590~US$600/ton FOB. A Korean mill source said that Posco has not started the second quarter price talk with its local major buyers. Yet, the market is expected that Posco’s second quarter prices will fall from a quarter ago because of weaken demand.
