Dollar Was More Than a Third of a US Cent Lower Following Slides on Global Stock Markets

THE Australian dollar was more than a third of a US cent lower following slides on global stock markets.

At 6.30am AEDT the currency was trading at 105.16 US cents,down from 105.52 cents at yesterday's local close.

The currency's move lower coincided with falls on stock markets in Europe and the US.

Germany's DAX 30 lost 0.43 per cent overnight while London's FTSE 100 finished 0.27 per cent lower.In New York,the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.67 per cent lower at 6.30am AEDT.
