The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has selected BAE Systems Detica to manage its global IT estate for the next five years.
The £40m deal will see BAE Systems Detica take responsibility for Service Management Integration for the FCO, with the aim of providing efficiency savings and an enhanced user experience across 260 FCO posts around the globe. The service is expected to go live from spring 2014.

BAE Systems Detica is also tasked with maintaining continuity of critical systems while the department works to reduce its IT expenditure by as much as 40 per cent. It's a policy in line with plans set out by the Cabinet Office in order to reduce government IT costs while attempting to provide better managed services in addition to opening up the market to a wider range of suppliers.
A statement by the FCO said BAE Systems Detica was selected as its service management integration solutions provider "because of its understanding of the FCO's strategic vision, its collaborative approach to managing the FCO's suppliers, as well as its experience in managing complex IT delivery within highly secure environments."
