The performance of China’s foreign trade sector is expected to increase at a moderate growth, helped by a recovering global economy.
As China continues to undergo significant structural changes, the composition of imports and exports will be affected. The nation’s foreign trade turnover is poised to grow by 6 percent in 2015, compared with about 4 percent last year.
China’s net external trade was a large drag on growth in the first quarter of 2014 as global trade slowed on the back of extreme weather conditions in the US. With the Chinese population set to continue expanding over the next two decades and incomes rising rapidly, food production and imports will expand significantly.
