EATP (the European Association for Textile Polyolefins) has released details of the programme for its annual Executive Seminar, to be held in Brussels on May 28. The theme of the Seminar is “Succeeding in a Challenging Environment”.
Highlights of the programme include:
- A picture of the global economic outlook;
-A consultant on polyolefin feedstock trends;
- Views on developments of the man-made fibre markets;
- Results of the annual EATP Market Study;
- An insight into polymer price volatility;
- Global challenges and opportunities for cotton;
- An overview of technical textiles in Turkey;
- A paper on cross-sectorial innovation;
Introducing the programme, EATP Director General Frédéric VAN HOUTE said: “2012 was a difficult year. The financial and economic uncertainties, which we saw rising in 2011, worsened in 2012. In this moving context, the aim of this year’s EATP Executive Seminar is to have a fresh look at the evolution of the industry in the near and longer term future.”
“Times are uncertain and challenges numerous. However, anticipation is essential and therefore the European textile industry should come together to discuss the strategies of success in tomorrow’s world.”
“Indeed, in a global and rapidly changing world, the knowledge of all factors affecting the value chain is crucial. Understanding the evolution of feedstock costs and detecting future trends will allow to work on strategies in man-made fibre and in textile markets. Developments in old and new Europe and the emergence of third countries will create competitors but also new opportunities.”
“So business will need to integrate the dynamics of an ever-increasing competition and the instruments to guarantee fair trade as well as growing sustainability concerns and a more stringent environmental legislation. Innovation will continue to be key.”
“Our seminar will include presentations on all these issues and look into how an association and its members will be able to help meet this challenge.”
“Some of the presentations will be more relevant to polyolefin fibres and textiles, but a majority of them will deal with general textile issues. Indeed, members are increasingly interested in the total competitive position of European textiles. Therefore, the conference is of interest to companies involved in polyolefin fibres or textiles, but also to all other actors in man-made fibres and textiles. CIRFS is co-organising this event.”
“The 2013 EATP/CIRFS Executive Seminar will include papers from companies, associations and consultancies, providing an in-depth look into the industry and providing participants with new information and ideas.It will give industry leaders a unique opportunity for strategic reflections about the future of the whole fibres/textiles value chain with excellent networking opportunities.”
