Georgia's Ferrous Scrap Exports to Turkey Amounted to 66,936 Metric Tons, Decreasing 7 Pct

In 2012, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's main trading partner, amounted to 66,936 metric tons, decreasing by 70.2 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). In the fourth quarter of last year, there were almost no scrap exports from Georgia to Turkey. The country's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey have been declining on a cumulative basis for more than a year, since the January-July period of 2011.

The revenue generated by these exports fell to $24.1 million, down 70.85 percent from the year-ago figure.

Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey decreased 62 percent as compared to 2011, totaling 15,177 metric tons.
