France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) has announced that the situation in French industry remained stable in March compared to February, according to a survey carried out among French business leaders, with the industrial business climate indicator stable in the given month and standing at its long-term average. The industrial economic climate index has been stable since December last year at 100 points.
The outlook on general production, which represents business leaders' opinion on French industry as a whole, weakened in March to a level which remains close to the long-term average. Overall order books remained nearly stable at a level close to their long-term average, while export order books increased markedly to a level slightly above their long-term average. Finally, stocks of finished products in French industry remained nearly stable in March compared to February and are considered to be below their normal levels.
