According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2012 Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports stood at 8.3 million metric tons, up 20.2 percent year on year, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $5.2 billion, increasing by 14.2 percent as compared to 2011.
Regarding December last year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 778,588 metric tons, increasing by 27.3 percent compared to the previous month and down 5.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $460.7 million, rising by 28 percent compared to the previous month and down 11.3 percent from December 2011.
In 2012, Turkey's rebar exports to the US, one of the largest rebar export destinations of Turkey, almost doubled, while rebar exports to the Middle East increased almost 11.5 percent and rebar exports to North Africa rose almost 50 percent, all compared to the previous year.
