THE days of the Australian dollar soaring above the 100 US cent mark are over.
So whether you're despairing that you can no longer afford that holiday in New York or rejoicing that your business is now more competitive, one thing is clear: you should get used to it.
ForexCT head of research Steven Dooley says the Australian dollar is on the nose with international traders amid signs the economy is weakening while the US picks up.
Unemployment is on the rise, economic growth is weaker and business sentiment is soft.
"It's all building into a powerful story for international traders that the Australian economy is weakening," he said.
So Mr Dooley says the dollar, which is now trading around the 95 US cent mark, is very unlikely to move back to parity.
