Avanco Resources has made its widest copper intercept at its Pedra Branca project in Brazil supporting its belief that it could host a larger copper discovery than anticipated.

Hole APDB-12-24 in its second drill program returned an assay of 116.7 meters at 0.83% copper and 0.28 grams per tonne gold including 20.45 meters at 2.04% copper and 1.01 gram per tonne gold.

The result justifies continued drilling at the project which is ramping up with three rigs now on site to support the next phases of drilling. This consists of a 5,000 meters program at Pedra Branca and another 5,000 meters of regional exploration.

Stage II drilling is designed to test between the Eastern and Western Zones with the objective of joining the Pedra Branca ore bodies into a single much larger deposit.

Current resources for Stage I and Stage 2 is 52.11 million tonnes at 1.27% copper, 0.32 gram per tonne gold for a contained resource of 661,000 tonnes of copper and 527,000 ounces of gold. Avanco plans to increase this to 1 million tonnes of contained copper during 2013.
