The financial supervisory commission (FSC) of Taiwan was reported to enable banks, insurance firms and Qualified Domestic Institutional Investors (QDIIs) in the Chinese mainland to make investments in the local securities and futures markets.
An official of Taiwan FSC said the QDIIs approved the mainland insurance regulator are not required to sign memo of understanding (MOU) to invest in the securities market according to the provisions of the mainland. Therefore, QDIIs approved by the mainland insurance regulator and QDIIs in the mainland banking sector are allowed to invest in Taiwan stocks.
