Swedish Crude Steel Output Has Been Declining in The First Quarter

According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in March this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 391,500 metric tons, decreasing by 13.2 percent year on year and up 15.55 percent as compared to February. The country's crude steel output has been declining on year-on-year basis since June 2011.

In the first quarter of 2013, Swedish crude steel production totaled 1.1 million mt, with a decrease of 11.5 percent compared to the same period of 2012.

Jernkontoret indicates that Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets, in January amounted to 305,200 mt, down 4.5 percent compared to the same month of 2012. Swedish finished steel imports in January totaled 247,200 mt, down 5.5 percent compared to January 2012.
