Parquet consumption in member countries of the European Parquet Industry Federation(FEP)declined again in 2011 by 1.7%to 91.475m m?2 after 2010 had shown a recovery.Increases in Germany(+6.7%), Sweden(+16.6%), Switzerland(+5.8%), Austria(+14.3%) and Rumania(+0.7%)were not able to compensate for decreases in other markets.There were particularly sharp falls in Spain(-12.6%),Hungary(-27.8%), the Netherlands(-13.5%) and in the merged region of Denmark,Finland and Norway(-19.9%). These data derive from the annual FEP report for 2011 which was presented to the general meeting of the federation on 7 and 8 June in Istanbul.
