According to the country's energy minister,Delphine Batho,by the end of 2014 France will initiate a€4.3 billion plan to roll out 35 million smart meters.
The initial smart meter proposal was delayed due to financial issues, doubts over consumer benefits, and a dispute between the parties involved.
The revised implementation plan is the result of a pilot study of 300,000 meters in homes across Lyon and Tours.
