The Rig Count Was Also Down 221 Rigs From The Same Week a Year Ago

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending May 24, the US rig count was down seven from the previous week to 1,762, following no change a week ago. The rig count was also down 221 rigs from the same week a year ago when active drilling rigs totaled 1,983. Oil rigs were down six to 1,402 while the gas rig count was unchanged at 354.

Meanwhile, Canada's rig count increased by eight to 131, following a five-rig increase a week ago, but still down 27 from the same week a year ago.
