In August this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 57,278 units, up 21 percent year on year and down 42 percent compared to July, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the given month, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 37,330 units, up 24 percent, while commercial vehicle production amounted to 19,948 units, up 16 percent, both compared to August 2013.
Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted 719,501 units, falling one percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 459,372 units, up 15 percent, while commercial vehicle production stood at 260,129 units, down 21 percent, both year on year.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in the first eight months of this year was 65 percent.
