The US and Canadian Rig Count Tends to Reverse

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending December 20, the US rig count decreased by 14 to 1,768, following seven-rig increase the previous week.? Additionally, the rig count is still down by six from 1,774 rigs during the same week a year ago.? The oil rig count decreased by 16 to 1,395 whereas the gas rig count increased by three to 372.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 28 in the week ending December 20 to reach 426, following a 24-rig increase the week before.? However, the Canadian rig count was still up 14 from 384 rigs during the same week a year ago.
