India's state-owned miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has announced that in the first half ended September 30 of the financial year 2013-14 its iron ore output amounted to 12.9 million mt, up 5.31 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year. In the first half this year, the company's iron ore sales increased by 8.09 percent year on year to 13.75 million mt.
During the first six months, NMDC produced 4.44 million mt of iron ore in the state of Karnataka, registering a growth of 9.90 percent year on year. India's Supreme Court has lifted restrictions on mining in Karnataka.
